Honey Walnut Crusted Salmon

Golden Honey & Walnut Crusted Salmon

This recipe takes the classic baked salmon and elevates it with a "flavor-lock" technique. By using a thin honey glaze as a natural adhesive, we create a crunchy, savory-sweet crust that stays perfectly attached to the fish.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 18 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Salmon: 4 Fillets (approx. 6 oz each / 1.5 lbs total).
The Base Marinade:
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Fresh lemon juice
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
The "Flavor-Lock" Layer:
  • 1 tbsp Honey (for brushing)
The Signature Walnut Crust:
  • 3/4 cup (3 oz) Finely chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 tsp Sweet paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1.5 tsp Dried parsley
  • Optional: 1 tsp Fresh lemon zest

Method

  1. Preheat: Get your oven to 400°F ($200^circtext{C}$). Line a baking tray with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Infuse the Fish: In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Rub this mixture onto the salmon fillets and place them on the tray.
  3. Apply the Glaze: Using a pastry brush or the back of a spoon, apply a very thin, even layer of honey over the top of each fillet. This acts as our "glue."
  4. The Crunch Factor: In a separate bowl, mix your chopped walnuts with paprika, salt, dried herbs, and the optional lemon zest.
  5. Crust it: Gently press the walnut mixture onto the honey-glazed tops. The honey will hold the nuts in place.
  6. Bake: Roast for 17-20 minutes. You'll know it's ready when the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the walnut crust looks toasted and golden.

Chef's Serving Tips

  • The Perfect Base: Serve the salmon over a bed of creamy mashed sweet potatoes or a light quinoa salad. The sweetness of the potatoes pairs beautifully with the nutty crust.
  • Visual Pop: Garnish with a sprig of fresh parsley and a thin slice of lemon on the side.
  • The Final Touch: For a professional look, drizzle a tiny bit of balsamic glaze or extra honey in a zigzag pattern over the plate right before serving.
